Margaritas for a crowd are always a good idea! Whether it’s Cinco de Mayo or not, a classic margarita recipe is always smart to have up your sleeve – Especially as the temperatures start rising and entertaining outside ramps up!
I think the recipe for a winning marg every time is just good fresh ingredients! Always use fresh lime juice if you want to make it proper. I will be a little upset with you if you go for the pre made margarita mix wearing the sombrero hat, as cute as it is.
I will however not be upset if you get your hands on one of these tequila bombs that makes a cocktail right there in your glass!! It’s like a bath bomb but even more glorious!
Whether you’re making a single marg for yourself or a pitcher for a crowd, if you stick with these ingredients you will have a perfect margarita every time! I definitely recommend a citrus juicer if you don’t have one since you’re squeezing a lot of limes for this recipe. I just have a cheap hand held one that you can get pretty much at any grocery or kitchen store and it works great!
Classic Pitcher Margaritas
Makes about 6-8 margaritas
3 1/2 cups of tequila
2 cups of freshly squeezed lime juice
1 cup of Cointreau, Grand Marnier or Triple Sec
1/2 cup of agave nectar (more or less depending on how sweet you like it)
2 limes for slicing (garnish)
What to do
In a shallow dish pour about 1/4 cup of kosher salt. Rim 6-8 glasses with a lime wedge and dip into salt dish.
In a large pitcher add tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, and agave and stir well.
Place the margarita batch into the fridge for at least one hour to chill before serving or fill glasses with crushed ice. Garnish with lime slices!
