Finding Joy In Travel Daydreams

Being inside the walls of our apartment pretty much solid for the last three weeks makes me realize even more how much I love to travel. I love the pulse of a new city, seeing different walks of life, and the joy of trying a local restaurant that I spent hours tracking down until we found the perfect one. I’m a home body in the sense that I love the simplicity and coziness of being at home, making good food, and slowing things down, and there’s nothing better than coming home after a long trip. But now I am itching to get out an explore! It’s scary to think of the impact this pandemic is having on the tourism and hospitality industry and I pray that once this is under control businesses will be able to get back up and running. I’ve been daydreaming of some of my favorite places  and where we’re going next so I wanted to write up a little list for you. The first trip on our docket that had to be cancelled due to the Coronavirus was Hawaii to visit friends, so that’s our trip after this mess is over. Then we’re planning Portland and L.A sometime in early summer to visit more friends so that’s what we’ve got so far! Where do you want to go next?!

Bali

We were on our honeymoon in Bali exactly two years ago right now and I am aching to get back. Beautiful beaches, kind people, and it’s SO CHEAP. You can read my travel guides to Seminyak, Lembongan islands, and Ubud here! Next on my list for Asia is Vietnam, Japan, and Thailand!

Brugge, Belgium

One of the most quaint towns in Europe I’ve been. The quiet, cobblestone streets and the charming houses on the canals honestly feels like something out of a fairy tale. It’s been almost six years since I’ve been there, but I found that the best little Belgium beer spot I love is still open, T’Brugsch Bieratelier is still around and kickin’. You can read one of the first blog posts I ever wrote on Brugge here! There’s so many places in Europe I still want to go to the Greek Islands, Portugal, Lapland, and Austria next.

California: Big Sur & Palm Springs

These have been two of my favorite places I’ve been to in California! On our road trip from Portland to Atlanta driving a long the coast through Big Sur was one of my favorite days.  The cliff views are unreal! There’s quaint little towns and hotels along the way so if you want a romantic weekend getaway definitely head here!

Palm spring is another fave of mine. We spent our first anniversary there and I honestly think about how relaxing and wonderful it was all the time. Chill pool vibes, hot during the day and cool at night, and great restaurants speckled throughout the city. Check out my getaway guide to Palm Springs here!

Paris

We were just here on a long layover but it wasn’t enough time! I want to take a girls trip here and go to the louvre and drink red wine like water in a small bistro. I love this complete Paris guide from Find Us Lost.

Here’s some other travel inspiration I’ve been drooling over lately:

– Hotels around the world share the view from their windows for everyone stuck at home.

– I can’t wait to see Lofoten, Norway.  Thomas hasn’t seen much of Northern Norway either so it will be fun to explore together. This guide is giving me life right now.

– Finland is the happiest country in the world 3rd year in a row – I love these 7 lessons learned from the happiest country in the world.

– The best travel movies to watch to continue your wanderlust while you’re stuck inside.

Outdoor adventures in Abu Dhabi sound unreal right now.

– Back to my roots in Florida, I would love to visit Rock Springs soon – Looks amazing to glide around on glass bottom boats.

I love to travel too. The only place I have been that’s on your list is California and it was a lot of fun. I want to visit Bali to do the Instagram worthy swings. I have a friend that has a pool and she mirrored it to match a pool she had while at her villa while vacationing in Bali! It was really nice. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for reading Kiara! The infinity pools in the villas are so dreamy – I can imagine why your friend would want that all the time!
